International stocks trading in New York closed mixed Tuesday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts edged 0.1% lower to 120.14. The European index increased 0.04% to 111.55, the Asian index decreased 0.3% to 145.97 and the Latin American index increased 0.5% to 172.68. The emerging markets index decreased 0.3% to 251.70.

United Utilities Group PLC and Commerzbank AG were among the companies with ADRs that traded actively.

ADRs of United Utilities Group PLC fell 5.8% after the provider of water and waste water services said inflation and higher power prices will weigh on revenue for the first half and the full fiscal year because of lower consumption.

Commerzbank AG ADRs fell 3% after the company said its third-quarter operating earnings will take a further hit from another provision at its Poland business. However, it maintained its profit outlook of more than 1 billion euros ($960.9 million) for the full year, as long as the geopolitical and energy situation doesn't get worse.
