WASHINGTON - Congressman Alex X. Mooney (WV-02) today issued the following statement on President Joe Biden's Day One executive orders:

'President Biden signed an executive order to have America rejoin the Paris Agreement, which will cost an estimated 400,000 American jobs by 2035. Energy producing states like West Virginia will be the most hurt. Furthermore, the Paris Agreement places a strict and costly burden on the United States to curb its emissions. However, developing nations like China and India will continue to emit more greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2, under lax standards.

'In continuing the anti-energy agenda of the Obama Administration, President Biden rescinded the Keystone XL pipeline, which will cost Americas approximately 11,000 good-paying jobs. These actions also make the world more dependent on countries like China and Russia for energy.

'Over the last four years, states like West Virginia have helped make America energy independent and lower greenhouse gas emissions. America should continue with these commonsense policies instead of moving back to the days when the Obama-Biden Administration was waging war on coal and natural gas,'said Congressman Alex X. Mooney.
