Laszlo Andor, European Commissioner in charge of
employment, social affairs and inclusion, will be visiting
Japan to take part in a symposium in Tokyo focusing on
youth unemployment issues co-organised by the European
Union and Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and
Welfare.
He will deliver the opening speech at the 14th EU-Japan
Symposium, titled 'Improving employability and labour
market participation among young people', to be held at
the Delegation of the EU to Japan on Wednesday, 18 July.
The event comes at a time when both Europe and Japan face
challenges in getting and keeping young people in jobs.
During his visit, the Commissioner plans to meet with
Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Yoko Komiyama. He
will also hold meetings with Yasuchika Hasegawa, Chairman
of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives (Keizai
Doyukai), Nobuaki Koga, President of the Japan Trade Union
Confederation (Rengo) and representatives of the Japan
Business Federation (Keidanren), as well as members of the
Diet.
