Shares of energy companies slipped amid fears that the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries' efforts to push prices higher would result in reduced demand.

Oil futures rose slightly in New York after an OPEC+ meeting in which Saudi Arabia said it would slash oil output by 1 million barrels a day.

On Monday, Saudi Arabia raised July prices for crude sales to Asian buyers.
