FTSE 100 Seen Opening Lower After Sell-Off in US, Asia

0730 GMT - The FTSE 100 is seen opening lower following losses on Wall Street and Asia overnight. IG futures data show the London index of blue chip stocks opening 25 points lower after closing down 9 points on Wednesday. Less aggressive support for the Republicans in the U.S. mid-term elections and looming uncertainty are major factors that weighed on investor sentiment on Wednesday with U.S. stocks falling sharply, Swissquote Bank analyst Ipek Ozkardeskaya says in a note. "The selloff was also fueled by the shaking crypto markets, and perhaps some investors taking risk off the table before the U.S. inflation data, due today," she says. The inflation data will be released at 1330 GMT. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
