Health-care companies rose as traders rotated into the sector on optimism about earnings.

Health insurer Centene said medical payouts related to Covid 19 fell by about two-thirds on a sequential basis in the second quarter, as the threat from the Omicron variant faded.

Centene shares rose as higher Medicaid and Medicare business boosted its earnings growth. Seagen shares rose after the biotech concern disclosed promising data from a bladder-cancer trial.
