KYIV, Ukraine-Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country won't surrender any territory to Russia in exchange for peace despite losing terrain and soldiers daily to Moscow's forces.
"We're not ready to concede any of our territories, because our territories are our territories," Mr. Zelensky said in an interview with Newsmax that aired late Tuesday, doubling down on earlier refusals. Trading land for peace "is not something we can agree on."
Senate Negotiators Remain Optimistic on Gun Talks
HARTFORD, Conn.-Democratic senators said they remained hopeful of reaching a deal with Republicans on gun measures, as President Biden said he would meet with lawmakers facing a deadline to show progress before Congress returns from break next week.
Senators are engaged in talks following the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, in which a gunman killed 19 children and two teachers. Any bill would need 60 votes to advance past the filibuster in the Senate, which is split 50-50 between the parties.
