According to the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, one of the artworks found is said to show Helen of Troy, a figure from Greek mythology, meeting Paris, Prince of Troy. While another of the frescos is said to depict Greek God Apollo trying to seduce the Trojan priestess, Cassandra.

The paintings are thought to have been originally displayed in a banqueting room providing the "social function of entertaining guests and table companions, providing talking points for conversations and reflections on life," according to the Archaeological Park of Pompeii's press release.

The excavation of this site is part of a larger project designed to make the vast heritage of Pompeii more efficient and sustainable.
