New explosions were recorded in Kiev overnight, with several casualties. The U.S., Europe, Japan, Canada and Australia unveiled new sanctions against Moscow, which are somehow less severe than expected, since they do not exclude Russia from the SWIFT interbank network.

Financials and miners are the best performers today, as metal prices progressed on supply concerns.

Wizz Air jumped 4.2% after suspending all flights in Ukraine, while British Airways owner IAG climbed 2.3% after saying it expected a return to profitability in 2022. Centrica gained 2.0% after posting annual profits that doubled year-on-year.
