Shares in Toronto were higher midday Tuesday as most sectors showed gains, with process industries and technology leading the rise in the session. Meanwhile, OceanaGold Corp. shares were higher as the company said it had restarted operations in New Zealand that were temporarily halted due to pandemic measures in the country.

At midday, Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index was 0.48% higher at 20693.31 and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 was also up by 0.45% at 1239.10.

OceanaGold Corp. shares rose 1.5% to C$2.36 in the session after the company said it had restarted its New Zealand operations that had been temporarily shut down due to Covid-19 measures put in place by the government.

Other market movers:

Valens Co. shares were down 2.9% at C$2.98 after the cannabis company said it agreed to acquire premium marijuana brand Citizen Stash Cannabis Corp. in a deal that values the target company at about $43 million on an enterprise value basis.

Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. shares climbed 1.2% to C$49.97 on news that it had intersected high-grade, visible gold deposits at its Fosterville Mine in Australia.
