The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on Monday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed. The loonie was trading 0.1% higher at C$1.359 to the greenback, or 73.58 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3583 to 1.3614. Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 1.6 basis points to 3.452%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.2296%. U.S. May crude futures rose 42 cents to $81.05 a barrel on Monday.
