Circl - ABN AMRO's sustainable pavilion - will receive an Urban Land Institute (ULI) Award for Excellence during the awards' ceremony of the ULI Fall meeting in Chicago. The ULI Awards for Excellence, which began in 1979, are given to development efforts in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

The nine winners and five special mentions were selected by a multidisciplinary jury who represent a range of real estate and land use expertise, including development, finance, planning, urban design, architecture, and landscape architecture. The jury commended Circl for 'its trailblazing approach to sustainability, creating a carbon-free building built on the principles of the circular economy and able to serve as an educational tool for developers across the globe'.

Merijn van den Bergh, Circl: 'We are very proud to have won this award. It is encouragement for us to continue to invest in creating better and healthier buildings and reduce carbon emissions.'

The ULI is a nonprofit education and research institute, established in 1936. In 2020, Circl won the ULI Europe Award for Excellence, and by this, automatically became a contender for the 2021 ULI Global Awards for Excellence.
