Moscow - Aeroflot PJSC (Moscow Exchange ticker: AFLT) today announces Aeroflot Group operating results for April and 4M 2023[1].
Key highlights of April 2023:
Aeroflot Group carried 3.4 million passengers, 55.4% up vs. April 2022, including 2.7 million passengers in domestic segment, 31.7% up vs. 2022.
Passenger traffic increased month-on-month in line with seasonal trends (3.3 and 3.0 million passengers in March and February 2023 respectively).
Total passenger traffic also increased by 12.1% compared to April 2021. In domestic segment traffic increased by 5.6%, thus establishing a new maximum level of monthly traffic for the month.
Group's RPK increased by 71.4% year-on-year, ASK increased by 63.0% vs. April 2022.
Passenger load factor amounted to 86.8%, up by 4.2 p.p. year-on-year, in domestic segment - 89.5%, 6.3 p.p. up vs. April 2022 and remains at record levels, seasonally adjusted.
Aeroflot Airlines carried 1.8 million passengers, almost 2x up year-on-year, including 1.3 million passengers in domestic segment. Aeroflot's RPK increased 2.2x year-on-year.
On-time performance
In 2023, Aeroflot Group performed flights with high punctuality. Aeroflot Airlines is consistently among top-5 airlines by on-time performance among the world's leading airlines. In April 2023, Aeroflot and Rossiya Airlines are both ranked in top-5 airlines by on-time performance among the top 50 airlines in the world by passenger traffic[2]. The punctuality index of the Group's network airlines in April 2023 was 92.8%, and of Aeroflot Airlines - 94.2%.
Aeroflot Group's regional bases
Krasnoyarsk hub and Sochi regional base continue to develop. In 4M 2023, the passenger traffic of Group's network airlines[3] in the Krasnoyarsk hub amounted to 181.5 thousand passengers, 2.3x up vs. 4M in 2022; passenger load factor reached 81.0%, up by 15.1 p.p. vs. April 2022. The passenger traffic of Sochi base[3] amounted to 287.9 thousand passengers, 3.6x vs. 4M in 2022; passenger load factor reached 82.5%, up by 15.6 p.p. year-on-year.
