SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) _ Ambarella Inc. (AMBA) on Monday reported a loss of $9.2 million in its fiscal fourth quarter.

The Santa Clara, California-based company said it had a loss of 25 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 45 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 43 cents per share.

The video-compression chipmaker posted revenue of $90.2 million in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $90.4 million.

For the current quarter ending in May, Ambarella said it expects revenue in the range of $88.5 million to $91.5 million.

Ambarella shares have fallen 31% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $139.71, a rise of 24% in the last 12 months.
