Mar 26, 2024

HOUSTON, March 26, 2024- Apache Corporation, a subsidiary of APA Corporation (Nasdaq: APA), has announced the first tree grant awards in Scotland as part of the inaugural round of the company's Tree Grant Program in the U.K.

More than 3,600 trees have been awarded to five organizations based in the North-east of Scotland, heralding the beginning of an annual program to support non-profit partners and government agencies.

The initiative is an extension of Apache's hugely successful tree grant program in the U.S., which has resulted in more than five million trees being planted since its launch in 2005.

"Supporting the creation and restoration of habitats and enhancing green spaces in Scotland is critical work to help restore some of the tree coverage affected by recent storms," said Jillian Owen, U.K. Country Manager. "We have seen the benefits of the tree grant program in the U.S., and as we embark on the first donations here, we are excited to work with partners as responsible stewards of the environment to plant more trees in our beautiful Scottish landscape and create a flourishing legacy for future generations."

The inaugural U.K. grant recipients include Camphill School Aberdeen, River Dee Trust, Belhelvie Community Trust, Beannachar Limited and Findochty Primary School.

"The Camphill School Aberdeen is absolutely delighted to receive an incredible donation of 2,500 mixed species trees to support our flood defenses, and this further supports our 80-year commitment to look after the environment," said Alex Busch, executive director of Camphill School Aberdeen. "This amazing support extends our partnership with Apache, and we're so grateful we can work together on our journey to expand biodiversity."

"Planting trees in our school grounds offers a wide range of benefits, including educational, environmental, and social advantages that can enrich the school experience for children and contribute to a healthier planet for future generations," said Dawn Thomson, head teacher, Findochty Primary School. "Trees provide habitats for various wildlife species, such as birds, squirrels, and insects; by planting trees in our school grounds, children can observe and learn about local wildlife, fostering a deeper appreciation for nature and the world around them. With the support of Apache and the donation of these trees, the project will encourage all our youngsters to become stewards of nature."
