A perfect example of this can be seen from our ASUS Philippines team, who recently partnered with Communities Organized for Resource Allocation (CORA) on the "ASUS x CORA" sustainability campaign. This three-month project was aimed at reducing waste and increasing environmental awareness. CORA is a non-profit organization committed to developing sustainable programs that tackle global issues such as hunger, poverty, inequality, and climate change.

Collective Responsibility for a Sustainable Future

Bayanihan, a Tagalog term encompassing the unity of working together towards a shared purpose, reflects the essence of collective action needed to save the planet. This spirit of cooperation was highlighted throughout ASUS Philippines' collaboration with CORA. The sustainability campaign was composed of three phases and engaged ASUS employees, partners, and the public in active participation.

Phase 1: Shaping a Circular Economy

To launch the ASUS x CORA campaign, ASUS Philippines organized an insightful workshop with CORA to educate ASUS employees on driving the shift towards a circular economy by recycling and upcycling household waste. This kickstarted two rounds of a Relearn, Recycle, Rewards contest where employees competed to see who could gather the most office and home waste to recycle, resulting in a total 840.6 Kg being collected. Then, in collaboration with a CORA partner, Sentinel Upcycling Technologies, these materials were transformed into practical, high-quality items such as benches, school chairs, and mobile trash bins - showcasing the power of recycling and upcycling in action.

Phase 2: Fostering Awareness

Expanding the campaign's reach, ASUS launched CORA Eco-Ikot Center pop-ups in three ASUS Exclusive Stores in Metro Manila. Shoppers were encouraged to trade used plastic bottles for ASUS and CORA merchandise - resulting in the collection of 1,121 plastic bottles. This initiative not only emphasized the importance of ecofriendly products like the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLEDand ASUS ExpertBook B9, but also showcased the innovative nature of CORA's Eco-Ikot Center, which offers a unique incentive-based recycling system.

Phase 3: Community Action for Coastal Conservation

Finally, ASUS joined forces with ASUS employees, partners, and influencers at Las Pinas-Paranaque Wetland Park for the 2023 International Coastal Cleanup Day. Led by Antoinette Taus, who is the Founder of CORA and a Zenbook S 13 OLED Ambassador, 75 volunteers combed the shoreline, collecting 646.2 Kg of debris, including Styrofoam, plastic bottles, straws, rubber, and toys. The recyclable trash was then sent to CORA's recycling partner for processing. This concerted effort also provided valuable data to support CORA and Philippine government agencies in tackling Manila Bay's extensive waste problem.

ASUS Philippines' partnership with CORA underscores our company's commitment to sustainability and community engagement. The ASUS x CORA campaign further showcases our dedication to driving change and promoting a circular economy. The collective endeavor yielded an impressive 1.7 tons of recyclables and provided essential data to aid ongoing efforts in addressing the critical issue of plastic waste. This initiative marks yet another step forward by ASUS in creating a more incredible, sustainable future in the Philippines and beyond.
