Ausgold Limited announced the results of reverse circulation drilling (RC) at the Central Zone within its 100%-owned Katanning Gold Project (KGP) in Western Australia's south-west. During December the Company completed a program of 23 RC drill program holes for 2,753m within the Central Zone. This new drilling targeted extensions of recently identified high-grade gold mineralisation at the Jinkas South and Jackson deposits. High-grade mineralisation in both areas has the potential to significantly add both grade and total ounces to the current KGP Mineral Resource, which stands at 33.1 million tonnes grading 1.10 g/t Au for 1.2 million ounces of gold. Most of the recent drill program was conducted at Jinkas South targeting high-grade gold mineralisation. Recent drilling at Jinkas South included 16 holes for 2,240m which have intersected gold mineralisation a further 400m along strike. Significant intercepts from this RC drilling. The new drilling has intersected several broad zones of gold mineralisation which show continuity along 400m of strike length. Significant intercepts included: 12m at 3.52 g/t Au from 120 m including 3m at 9.64 g/t Au in BSRC0916; 1.0m at 5.00g/t from 54m and 1m at 9.81 g/t Au from 117m in BSRC0916; 18m at 0.97 g/t Au from 120 m including 1m at 10.25 g/t Au from 123m in BSRC0914; 0m at 0.94 g/t Au from 119 m and 1m at 11.2 g/t Au from 142 m BSRC0918; 13m at 1.11 g/t Au from 99 m including 2m at 2.18 g/t Au from 107m in BSRC0918; 22m at 0.85 g/t Au from 132 m in BSRC0909; 23m at 0.8 g/t Au from 126 m in BSRC0910. The new drill results extend the zone of high-grade gold mineralisation beyond that intersected in previous drill programs, including 26m at 6.6 g/t Au from 117m (including 4m at 37.19 g/t Au) in BSRC0814, 16m at 6.21 g/t Au from 114m (including 4m at 22.38 g/t Au) in BSRC0871, and 15m at 3.66 g/t Au from 117m (including 5m at 10.37 g/t Au) in BSRC0859. Gold mineralisation in the Central Zone is localised around a sill-like quartz monzonite (granite) body which dips towards the east. This body separates the Jinkas lode from the White Dam lode, and the highest gold grades occur where these two stacked lodes coalesce in the down-dip position along the eastern edge of the current Resource. The recent drilling at Jinkas South better delineates the high-grade mineralisation in south-eastern portion of the defined Resource. Ongoing work on the geology of the Jinkas South area is focusing on the key host rock associations and the accompanying alteration zones, which primarily contain pyrrhotite and biotite (potassic) alteration, as well as strike slip faults in the area. The best result in the recent program (BSRC0916) has tested a Down Hole Electromagnetic (DHEM) target plate intersecting 12m at 3.52 g/t Au from 120m, including 3m at 9.64 g/t Au in BSRC0916. This extends the high-grade gold mineralisation at Jinkas South towards main Jinkas deposit and is open down dip and along strike. The southernmost hole of the program has intersected a broad zone of mineralisation, including 18m at 0.97 g/t Au from 120m (including 1m at 10.25 g/t Au from 123m) in BSRC0914, which is characteristic of the Jinkas South lode. It is anticipated that further drilling will extend mineralisation where it remains open along strike length of over 400m. Jackson; The Jackson area is located at the northernmost portion of the Central Zone. New drilling has intersected 3m at 3.21 g/t Au from 37m, including 1m at 8.67 g/t Au in BSRC0906. Previously intersected high-grade mineralisation in the southern Jackson area includes 3m at 6.55 g/t Au from 13m and 4m at 14.19 g/t Au from 114m (including 1m at 53.57g/t Au). Recent intercepts 440m north of the Jackson Resource area highlight northward extensions to mineralisation including 2m at 6.07 g/t Au in BSRC0804 and now confirmed in recent drilling, with 3m at 1.7 g/t Au from 67m in BSRC0922. Other work programs A 4,500m aircore drill program is underway and will test near regional targets at Burong and Cleggs Bend prospects. Planning has commenced for a high-impact RC drill program in February 2020 within the Central Zone, targeting high-grade gold mineralisation. This will be followed by RC drilling of regional targets, including Burong and Nanicup Bridge prospects, which is to be partially funded by the WA Government Exploration Incentive Scheme. Additional field work is being completed within the regional KGP, which includes mapping, reconnaissance rock chip sampling and auger programmes being conducted over six prospects.
