MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — AutoZone Inc. (AZO) on Tuesday reported fiscal second-quarter profit of $515 million.

The Memphis, Tennessee-based company said it had net income of $28.89 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $26.08 per share.

The auto parts retailer posted revenue of $3.86 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.85 billion.

AutoZone shares have climbed 7% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has risen slightly more than 6%. The stock has increased 9% in the last 12 months.
