Bharti Airtel, announced that it has deployed additional sites in the state of Jharkhand as part of its rural enhancement project. The company has successfully deployed 146 sites in the remote regions of Jharkhand. The additional deployment of sites to densify its network in the remote corners of Jharkhand will benefit 180 villages covering 92,000 population base.

The additional sites will further augment customer experience in this region on both voice and data connectivity. Customers in 21 districts like Pashchim Singhbhum, Sahibganj, Latehar, Gumla, Garhwa, Dumka Palamu and more will directly benefit from the network enhancement. This expansion will enable seamless access to high-speed connectivity, a massive service for customers in rural & smaller towns thereby ensuring reliable mobile network for work, study and entertainment.

The rural enhancement project taken up under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (`USOF') aims to provide for quality and affordable mobile and digital services across the rural and remote areas of the country; allowing non-discriminatory access to mobile and network services along with equitable access to knowledge and information dissemination, leading to rapid socio- economic development with improved standard of living. The USOF deployment has been geographically very challenging for the teams. The engineering executives meticulously planned the deployment in harsh climatic conditions with limited accommodation facilities in remote areas. With customer obsession at the heart of this challenging deployment, the team completed the project with the primary objective of extending connectivity in remote areas where no other network operator is available.

As the company believes that bringing connectivity to these areas not just increases opportunities for its residents but also uplifts their standard of life and has a deep socio-economic impact by making them a part of `Digital India'.
