LG Chem Selected Burckhardt Compression as Key Equipment Supplier for LDPE-EVA Plant

Burckhardt Compression has been awarded an order from LG Chem to deliver one Hyper Compressor and one Process Gas Compressor for the LDPE-EVA plant in Daesan, Korea.

LG Chem chose Burckhardt Compression to deliver a Hyper Compressor as Secondary Compressor and a Process Gas Compressor as Booster/Primary Compressor for their LDPE ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) plant in Daesan, Korea.

After a thorough evaluation phase LG Chem selected Burckhardt Compression thanks to the proven technology and large number of references in LDPE plants with similar or larger capacities. For LG Chem it is key to have a single point of contact for both compressors since both compressors are installed in the main production line and interdependent. Burckhardt Compression bears the overall responsibility for the package i.e. for compressing ethylene gas over the whole compression range.

Hyper Compressors are high pressure reciprocating compressors for LDPE plants with discharge pressures up to 3'500 bar (50'000 psi). Burckhardt Compression has an outstanding experience of over 55 years in manufacturing Hyper Compressors. They excel with a long lifetime and highest safety standards thanks to their unique design features.
Process Gas Compressors represent highest availability and a long meantime between overhaul, also thanks to in-house engineered and manufactured high quality compressor components and valves. Practice oriented design principles result in easy maintenance work and short downtime for overhauls.

Delivery of the compressors is scheduled to be in December 2012.
