CGI Inc. on Wednesday reported a rise in second-quarter profit and revenue, beating analyst consensus expectations.
The Canadian information technology consulting and systems integration company said earnings per share were 1.53 Canadian dollars (US$1.19), compared with C$1.34 a share in the prior-year period.
Net income was C$372 million, up from C$341.2 million a year ago.
Adjusted earnings also came in at C$1.53 a share, up from C$1.35 a share. According to FactSet, analysts were expecting C$1.51 a share.
Revenue rose to C$3.27 billion from C$3.08 billion, beating forecasts of C$3.19 billion.
The company said backlogs rose slightly to C$23.14 billion from C$23.09 billion, while bookings fell by C$576.4 million to C$3.32 billion.
