On August 2, CGGC, a core member of CEEC, and Sarawak Energy Corporation held the Signing Ceremony for Baylor Hydropower Station in Kuching. Among the attendees were Mr. Chen Xiaohua, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of CGGC, President of CGGC International, and President of CGGC Overseas Investment, Tan Sri Datuk Ama James Mahin, Chief Deputy Minister of Sarawak & Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Datuk Ama Hami Sbawick, Chairman of Sarawak Energy, and Fu Jijun, Consul-general of Chinese Embassy in Kuching. The successful signing of the contract marks that CGGC has made great breakthrough in the energy cooperation in Malaysia, and will also inject new impetus for the construction of the 'Belt and Road', and further strengthen the friendship between China and Malaysia.

Baylor Hydropower Station Project is an important part of Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), as well as one of the largest infrastructure projects in Sarawak. After it is completely put into production, it will offer 1285MW of additional renewable energy for Malaysia, providing enough power for local economic and social development. In peak time, the Project will offer about 3,500 jobs for local residents, and meanwhile a large pool of skilled and managerial high-quality electrical talents will be trained as the basis for local economic and social development, thus significantly accelerate the local economic development and improve the people's livelihood, so as to inject ceaseless impetus for the sustainable growth and long-term prosperity of Sarawak.

China and Malaysia are important trade partners of each other for multiple years, and the governments of two countries have continuously deepened the cooperation and communication in politic, economic and other fields under the framework of the China-proposed 'Belt and Road' Initiative. With extremely rich natural resources, Sarawak is of great significance for the economic development of Malaysia. The completion of Baylor Hydropower Station will provide important energy guarantee for the industrial development of Sarawak, and accelerate the economic development of Malaysia.

At the signing ceremony, Chen Xiaohua noted that the 'Belt and Road' Initiative is a great idea that benefits the whole world. The signing of contract for Baylor Hydropower Station is of great significance for improving the level of economic and trading cooperation, strengthening the friendly collaboration between China and Malaysia, and promoting the healthy development of regional economy.
