At 18:41 on July 28, with a whistle, a 10,000-Ton Trial Train 16022, pulled by two SHEN-12 locomotives, set off from Zhugaita Station of Baoshen Railway Group. After running for four hours and 27 minutes, the trial train safely arrived at Shenchi South Station at 23:08. All test data reached the safe operation standards of the train, marking a success of the trial.

This train, powered by two SHEN-12 locomotive, one in the head and the second in the middle pull the wagons. To ensure the 10,000-Ton Trial Train meet the requirements of safe operation, Baoshen Railway Group installed synchronous control devices and master-slave joint control equipment on 16 SHEN-12 locomotives, which were put into operation in the early stage. In addition, automatic over-phase control system and train tail signal transmission function of locomotives were optimized. The control measures and emergency response plans were formulated in advance for the 10,000-Ton Trial Train pulled by SHEN-12 locomotives. From the perspective of both software and hardware, efforts to ensure regular and safe operation of the 10,000-Ton Train pulled by SHEN-12 locomotives were made.

The success of this test greatly shrinks the demands for manpower and machinery, and remarkably improves the efficiency of cargo transportation at marshalling yards and intermediate stations along the railway lines. Subsequently, "1+1" combined 10,000-ton trains, pulled by SHEN-12 locomotives, will keep operation on a regular basis. This will not only lay a solid foundation for further tapping the potential, improving efficiency and stripping transportation capacity, but also maximize the benefits of the Group from integrated operation.
