Chinook Therapeutics, Inc. announced that the first patient with IgA nephropathy (IgAN) has been enrolled in the BEYOND study, a pivotal phase 3 clinical trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of zigakibart (BION-1301), a potentially disease-modifying anti-APRIL monoclonal antibody. IgAN is the most common primary glomerular disease worldwide with limited treatment options currently available, causing many patients to progress to end-stage kidney disease, requiring dialysis or kidney transplant. With the potential to be disease-modifying based on the encouraging results observed in the phase 1/2 study.
