(NYSE: CPS) today announced that it and Reed Elsevier have received a request for additional information from the Federal Trade Commission regarding the proposed merger between the companies. In addition, the companies have been notified of parallel reviews by the attorneys general of certain states. The Federal Trade Commission information request was issued under notification requirements of the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended.

The companies intend to cooperate fully and respond expeditiously to the FTC. It is expected that the transaction will close later in the year.
