CLP Power Hong Kong Limited ('CLP Power') is committed to promoting low-carbon driving to make Hong Kong a greener, smarter city.

Today (19 October), the company announced it is extending free charging service for its electric vehicle (EV) charging stations until the end of 2022, offering a convenient and reliable service to drivers and supporting the Government's policy to encourage green motoring. CLP Power Managing Director Mr T K Chiang said: 'To tackle climate change, CLP Power is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050, as well as supporting Hong Kong to work towards a goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050.

'The promotion of green motoring is one of the vital initiatives to reduce carbon footprint. CLP Power will continue to support EV development and encourage more drivers for choosing EV. To support the long-term policy objectives set out in the Hong Kong Roadmap on Popularisation of Electric Vehicles, CLP Power has been working with the Government and the private sector to develop trials for the electrification of public transportation, paving the way for a zero-carbon future in Hong Kong.' There are currently 54 CLP Power semi-quick and quick EV charging stations with a total of 161 chargers in Kowloon, the New Territories, and Lantau.

EV drivers can download the CLP mobile app or check the CLP Power website (http://clp.to/ev) for the locations and usage status of EV charging stations, and to receive service updates. In a parallel initiative, CLP Power's Eco Charge 2.0 EV support service has received more than 420 applications from owners of private buildings and estate managers since its launch in November 2020, covering around 112,000 parking bays.

CLP Power has completed preliminary assessments for around 93% of applications, providing professional advice to support applicants who are interested and qualified in applying for funding for EV charging-enabled infrastructure in the car parks of private residential blocks under the Government's EV-charging at Home Subsidy Scheme. CLP Power will continue to conduct regular reviews of the use of its EV charging network and customer support service, and will monitor the latest EV technology developments to keep pace with evolving market needs.
