Windsor, Ontario, May 26, 2021 - A high-impact, collaborative learning centre in the Odette School of Business will soon bear the name of one of the faculty's distinguished alumni.

Colliers, a leading professional real estate services and investment management company, has made a significant philanthropic naming commitment to the Odette School of Business to honour its Chief Operating Officer, John Friedrichsen, who is retiring following a distinguished 23-year career with the company. John was a 1984 Odette School of Business Honours Bachelor of Commerce graduate.

'The John Friedrichsen Centre for Student and Community Engagement is a fitting tribute to a man who exemplifies business success and personifies the importance of lifelong learning,' said Jay Hennick, Global Chairman and CEO, Colliers. 'For more than two decades, John has been one of my closest allies in building two great Canadian companies, FirstService and Colliers. We wish him every success in the future and are proud to honour his legacy by naming the Centre and investing in our future business leaders.'

Friedrichsen says the Odette School of Business provided him with a foundation on which he built a very fulfilling and rewarding career.

He continued, 'I have been incredibly fortunate to be part of two enterprising, growth-minded businesses where, working with Jay Hennick and the outstanding leadership teams, we pushed the boundaries of what's possible. I am humbled by this tribute and take great pride in deepening my ties with the Odette School of Business and the rising talent that will emerge from its programs.'

The collaborative space is used as an alternative to a traditional classroom and is in continuous use for guest lectures, student team projects, employer recruitment, and other major university events when students and faculty are on campus.

'John has had a remarkable career at FirstService and Colliers. This generous gift in his name is a profound investment in Odette and will impact many current and future students,' says Odette School of Business dean Dr. Mitchell Fields.

'The Odette School of Business is genuinely grateful to be a part of this tribute to John that represents a lasting honour to an extremely accomplished alumnus.'

Odette will host a private unveiling and reception at a future date.
