Dhunseri Tea & Industries Seeks Acquisition Opportunities Only in Assam

Dhunseri Tea & Industries Limited (NSEI:DTIL) is looking for acquisition opportunities only in Assam. Dhunseri Tea & Industries is not interested in buying tea estates in Darjeeling and is looking for more acquisition opportunities only in Assam. The company had acquired two estates of Apeejay Tea in Assam for a total consideration of around INR 1.09 billion in December 2022.

"The company is looking for good acquisition opportunities in Assam. I need good gardens only in Assam," said Chairman Chandra Kumar Dhanuka. The company is not interested in buying tea gardens in Darjeeling.

"I have never been interested in Darjeeling," Dhanuka told FE.

Dhunseri Tea & Industries Limited is an India-based holding company. The Company and its subsidiaries are primarily engaged in the business of cultivation, manufacture and sale of tea and macadamia nuts and other allied services relating to the plantation sector across various geographical locations. The Companyâs segments include India and the Rest of the World. The India segment covers cultivation, manufacture, and sale of tea from India and other allied services relating to the plantation sector. The Rest of the World segment is primarily covering the business of cultivation, manufacture, and sale of tea and macadamia nuts from Malawi and other allied services relating to the plantation sector. It has about 12 tea estates and 14 tea factories in Assam. It also has two tea estates in Malawi, East Africa, where plantation of tea and macadamia is being undertaken. The total production capacity of the Company is about 210 lakh kilograms (kg) of tea and 4.10 lakh kg of macadamia.
