It seemed as if the entire Northern Netherlands was in the starting blocks for the Cattle and Mechanization Trade Days in Hardenberg (Ov.). It was sauntering along the packed aisles past the more than 380 exhibitors in the Evenementenhal.

Traditionally, the visitors come mainly to catch up with suppliers. Big news is keeping the exhibitors for Agritechnica (next week) and especially Eurotier next fall. However, the Dutch barn fitters and machine suppliers were generous with numerous fair and discount offers.

Still, there were some novelties for observant visitors. Although Hanskamp's Beddingcleaner is not entirely new, the manufacturer was able to report that the machine for removing manure slabs from sand or litter floors is ready for production. A series of ten machines will initially be built. And the calf houses at the Kalfsupport stand will make way for group housing in the future, if it is up to the calf specialists themselves. Practical ingenuity for the dairy farmer was also on display. Indeed, the Lithuanian company Brolis - present for the first time in Hardenberg - showed the Herdline. The Worky- Quad on the stand of JFS Bouwmachines can now handle more attachments and the Gemini Up from Boumatic and SAC experienced a first at a Dutch fair. Holm&Laue modified the drinking machine a bit and Digistar presented a tablet for the Tap Feed management system.

Better milk flow

Boumatic and SAC jointly showed the Gemini Up. The milking robot was announced in early September as the successor to the Gemini. Compared to the "regular" Gemini, the Gemini Up has a wider inlet and outlet. In addition, the milk flow has been improved. Namely, the milk is led through a larger pipe with a diameter of 19 mm. As a result, the robot is said to milk especially high-producing cows better. In addition, the companies report that the vacuum is more stable.

More oil yield

The Worky-Quad SSG 22 has been updated. On the stand of importer JFS Bouwmachines from Ambt-Delden (Ov.) was the HF variant, or High Flow. This means that the oil flow on the third valve is not 35, but 45 liters per minute. According to owner Jeffrey Scharbaai, that offers more possibilities than just using a bale fork or a bucket. The vehicle's lifting capacity is 450 kg. The Worky-Quad is on the price list for about 15,500 euros.

Milk analysis

The Herdline from the Lithuanian company Brolis is made to give the dairy farmer early warning of a condition such as Ketosis. Each milking cluster or milking robot, gets a box through which the milk flows. That box analyzes at high speed after which the dairy farmer sees an overview in the application that Brolis provides with the system. Based on this data, a treatment can be started if necessary. An additional convenience: the Herdline also measures fat and protein levels.

Feeding and spreading

There was nothing new to see at Sieplo's dosing bin in Hardenberg. But the company from Lunteren (Gld.) reports that it is coming to Agritechnica with an addition to the existing bin. Besides dosing bales, the bucket can also be used as a spreader. To do this, there will be a hand-held unit on the side with a number of fingers attached to a shaft. These fingers grip the spreading material and can spread it up to four meters.

Cleaner dispenser

Holm&Laue has modified its vending machine. Previously, the feeder had a drain pan in which residual liquid and saliva from the calves was collected. That tray has now given way to a sloping stainless steel plate that directs the fluids to a so-called drainage slot that drains the fluid. Combined with new spray nozzles that spray the teat clean at a wider angle after drinking, the modification should result in the machine staying cleaner.

Screen instead of phone

Digistar is presenting a tablet for the Tap Feed feed management system. Until now, the dairy farmer needed a smartphone when feeding. Using the feeding schedule on the phone, all ingredients are loaded into the mixer. Now there is a tablet that takes over this function. One of the advantages is that the tablet can stay in the tractor or shovel. So the phone is no longer needed. The official launch of the Digistar FD1 will take place at Agritechnica.
