By Pursuing its expansion in the wind energy segment in Europe, EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of the 48 MW Vallata and the 74 MW Bonorva wind farms in Italy. These two facilities were commissioned in late December 2011.
The Vallata wind farm is located in Campania in Avellino
province. It is composed of twenty Vestas turbines and four
REPower turbines, each with a unit capacity of
2 MW.
The Bonorva facility, located in Sassari province in Sardinia, comprises 37 Vestas turbines, each with a unit capacity of 2 MW.
These two projects were built and are 100% owned by EDF EN Italia, the Italian subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles.
The Vallata and Bonorva facilities, which respectively rank as the seventh and eighth projects completed by the Group in Italy, will underpin EDF Energies Nouvelles' position as a major force in the Italian wind energy market. The Group's wind energy capacity there now stands at 487 MW gross.
With operations in Europe and North America, EDF Energies Nouvelles is a market leader in green electricity production. With a development focused on wind energy for several years and more recently on solar photovoltaic, the Group is also present in other segments of the renewable energies market: small hydro, marine energy, biomass, biofuel and biogas. In addition, the Group is expanding in the distributed renewable energies sector. EDF Energies Nouvelles is a subsidiary of the EDF group.
