Hakusan, Japan - EIZO Corporation (TSE: 6737) today unveiled the release of the RadiForce MX317W - a 30.5-inch 8 megapixel (4096 x 2160 pixels) color monitor for displaying patient charts, reviewing diagnostic imaging, and viewing pathology images. With USB Type-C® connectivity, it is optimized for off-site teleradiology or home reading.

The RadiForce MX317W is the successor model to the MX315W. It retains the high performance and rich features of its predecessor, including DICOM® Part 14 compliance so gradations remain consistent in monochrome medical images such as chest X-ray, CT, or MRI. The monitor also supports color display for reviewing images used in endoscopy, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound. This provides flexibility for displaying and reviewing data from various modalities.

The MX317W acts as docking station when accessed via USB Type-C for streamlined connectivity ideal for teleradiology, including home reading. With USB Type-C, users can display video, transmit USB signals, and supply 94 watts of power to a connected device, such as a mobile workstation, with just a single cable.

The monitor has LAN port directly built in for a stable wired connection. Connecting to a mobile workstation via USB Type-C allows access to the network through the monitor, making it useful for when facilities require a wired connection to comply with security policies. The monitor also has three USB Type-A ports and an additional USB Type-C downstream port for easily connecting peripherals such as an external keyboard, mouse, or web camera.

Furthermore, USB Type-C supports daisy chaining for easily connecting multiple monitors from a single USB Type-C video signal output from a mobile workstations. This allows the monitor be configured in a multi-monitor setup without the hassle of excess cabling. A multi-monitor configuration enables the display of multiple screens simultaneously for reading reports, examination lists, and patient charts. This reduces the need to switch windows frequently or scroll compared to the small screen of a mobile workstation, facilitating a boost in efficiency.

The MX317W is the first in the RadiForce line to include a dedicated mode for digital pathology. This provides custom settings for viewing microscopic cell and tissue structures on the monitor in high detail.

EIZO strives to be a leader in responsible business and manufacturing process to protect the environment for a more sustainable future. The RadiForce MX317W is made of more than 70% recycled plastic. This mitigates the amount of plastic waste going into the environment, conserves resources, and promotes reuse of materials for preserving the natural ecosystems.

In addition, EIZO is moving away from using plastic and styrofoam in its packaging to reduce environmental impact. The MX317W uses molded pulp made from recycled cardboard and newspaper in its packaging instead of conventional recycled styrofoam or plastic. The cables are wrapped in paper instead of plastic bags. EIZO aims to continue this and other responsible manufacturing practices to maintain high product quality while keeping the environment in mind.
