Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-POWER)

Renewal Works of Sarakitomanai Windfarm Have Started

The third renewal project for J-POWER Group's domestic wind power

Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (hereafter "J-POWER") announces that J-Wind Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of J-POWER, has begun renewal works at Sarakitomanai Windfarm in Hokkaido, Japan.

This project is the third renewal project for J-POWER Group's wind power business following Shimamaki Windfarm which has been under renewal works since May 2021.

Sarakitomanai Windfarm had been in commercial operation for 20 years since December 2001. In this renewal project, nine existing aged wind turbines, of which capacity is 1,650kW for each, will be replaced with four 4,300kW wind turbines, which stands at the largest level in Japan.

After its planned commercial operations in January 2024, the high performance of the cutting- edge large-scale wind turbine is expected to enable utilizing the wind resources at the site as much as possible.

J-POWER Group continues initiatives to replace aged wind turbines all over Japan in order to achieve sustainable development of renewable energy and stable operations.
