THE SECOND STAGE OF THE KOLA WIND FARM WAS LAUNCHED

p. Tumanniy, May 12th 2023 - PJSC «EL5-Energo» (LUKOIL Group) held a solemn ceremony of launching the Kola wind farm, the world's most powerful wind farm beyond the Arctic Circle. The event was attended by Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region, and Vadim Vorobyov, CEO of PJSC LUKOIL.

The Kola wind farm with an installed capacity of 201 MW is located in the Murmansk region. December 1, 2022, the first stage of the power plant with the capacity of 170 MW was put into operation. The wind power plant is equipped with 57 WTGs and occupies the area of 257 ha.

The planned generation of the wind farm is about 750 GWh per year and avoiding the emission of around 600,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. The wind farm uses mainly Russian equipment.

The Kola wind farm was constructed by EL5-Energo within the state program aimed on the support for generation based on renewable energy sources and the agreement with the government of the Murmansk region on the development of renewable energy. In 2021, the project was assigned a status of a strategic investment project of the region.
