The Oak Brook, Illinois-based company said it had profit of 75 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 74 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 67 cents per share.

The company that makes products ranging from street sweepers to toll booth technology for government, industrial and commercial customers posted revenue of $448.4 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $432.9 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $157.4 million, or $2.56 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.72 billion.

Federal Signal expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.85 to $3.05 per share, with revenue in the range of $1.85 billion to $1.9 billion.
