PRESS RELEASE

Héricourt, May 25th, 2021

GAUSSIN signs a partnership agreement with HYNAMICS to carry out 4 "Moonroad" (code-name) pilot projects on open roads with autonomous electric and hydrogen-powered cab- less 4x2 44T trucks

Tests to be carried out from the end of 2021 in Moret-sur-Loing, Belfort and Paris, aimed at deployment for the 2024 Olympic Games

GAUSSIN (EURONEXT GROWTH: ALGAU - FR0013495298) and Hynamics, a subsidiary of EDF, announce the signature of a partnership agreement for the implementation of 4 pilot projects at the end of 2021, to demonstrate the efficiency and productivity of Gaussin's 100% autonomous and "dual energy" transport solutions, running on hydrogen and electricity.

The project represents another application of the modular hydrogen and electric "skateboard", platform, presented to the market by GAUSSIN last April (see the April 27, 2021 press release).

The project's objective is to relieve traffic congestion in the target site during daytime operations.

Currently, the vast majority of short-distance transportation is carried out during the daytime by a large number of diesel trucks which, in addition to the pollution emitted, contribute to road traffic congestion. In response to this situation, Gaussin has developed a unique and complete solution code- named "Moonroad" based on the following principles:

  • An autonomous cab-less road tractor, with electric and hydrogen propulsion, capable of towing semi-trailers with a total weight of 44 T, moving at a deliberate speed to carry out short-haul transports. This allows safe, silent transport, consuming small amounts of hydrogen... in other words, environmentally friendly and economical. This tractor has been developed on the basis of the Gaussin "skateboard" presented to the general public on April 27.
  • Given the vehicle's characteristics, it can be used for night-time transport to relieve daytime traffic without disturbing local residents.
  • A Transport as a Service (TaaS ) solution that allows the end customer to benefit from a true transport-on-demand service.

Pilot projects supported by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, in charge of Transport

The 4 pilot projects to be conducted by Gaussin and Hynamics will demonstrate the efficiency, performance and productivity of this solution in an all-hydrogen ecosystem.

Gaussin will provide its unique Transport as a Service solution based on its autonomous hydrogen vehicle, while Hynamics, which designs and builds hydrogen production units, will provide the hydrogen for the 4 projects. The objective is to deploy the transportation of hydrogen containers from Hynamics' production sites to Hynamics' distribution sites using Gaussin's hydrogen trucks.

The realization of this type of pilot project is supported by the Ministry of Ecological Transition in charge of Transport, which has set up specific authorization procedures for autonomous vehicle tests. From the end of 2021 and continuing through 2023, with a view to the 2024 Olympic Games, this partnership will enable 4 pilot projects to be carried out around the Hynamics sites in Moret-sur- Loing, Belfort, and Paris, as well as a site currently being defined, on road routes ranging from 5 km to 80 km.

Demonstrating the benefits of autonomous hydrogen and electric transport

This partnership will promote the adoption of "dual energy" vehicles, based on Gaussin's technology, which run on hydrogen and electricity. The presence of suitable hydrogen production and distribution stations in the territory represents an important logistical challenge to encourage the various mobility players to adopt clean vehicles and thus democratize their use in real-life situations. The cooperation between Gaussin and Hynamics therefore contributes to strengthening the hydrogen ecosystem dedicated to heavy mobility.

The project will be submitted to ADEME as part of the call-for-projects to promote hydrogen mobility solutions.

"Moonroad represents a new approach to transportation, one that is both more environmentally friendly and more economical. Our autonomous, hydrogen-powered44-ton tractor is a variation on the revolutionary "skateboard" presented a month ago. The result of years of investment and research by the Gaussin group, the skateboard is the centerpiece of this innovative transport solution. Our efforts now allow us to propose, in partnership with Hynamics, these four pilot projects which, I am convinced, will prove the performance of this solution", underlines Christophe Gaussin, CEO of

GAUSSIN.

"As a producer and distributor of low-carbon and renewable hydrogen, Hynamics is proud to partner with Gaussin, which is making a significant contribution to the development of hydrogen vehicles. This partnership combines Gaussin's expertise in hydrogen trucks with our ability to resupply these vehicles with locally produced hydrogen," says Christelle Rouillé, Hynamics' CEO.
