Investor Activity On GPW Group Markets - May 2018

PRESS RELEASE - TRADING ON GPW GROUP MARKETS

  • Decrease of the value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book1 on the GPW Main Market by 21.3% YoY to PLN 17.1 billion in May 2018
  • Decrease of the total volume of trade in derivatives by 2.1% YoY to 657.7 thousand contracts in May 2018
  • Increase of the value of issues of non-Treasury bonds listed on Catalyst by 27.7% YoY to PLN 80.7 billion
  • Increase of the total volume of trade in electricity by 108% to 18.2 TWh in May 2018
  • Increase of the total volume of transactions in gas by 46.9% YoY to 10.2 TWh
  • Increase of the volume of spot trade in property rights to certificates of origin2 by 33.5% to 10.7 TWh in May 2018

The total value of trade in equities on the GPW Main Market was PLN 17.6 billion in May 2018, representing a decrease of 20.4% year on year. The value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book decreased by 21.3% year on year to PLN 17.1 billion in May 2018. The average daily value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book stood at PLN 852.5 million in May 2018, a decrease of 17.4% year on year. The WIG index stood at 57,282.73 points at the end of May 2018, representing a decrease of 4.7% year on year.

The total value of trade in equities on NewConnect increased by 38% year on year to PLN 143 million in May 2018. The value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book on NewConnect was PLN 141.3 million in May 2018, an increase of 48.2% year on year.

The total volume of trade in derivatives was 657.7 thousand contracts in May 2018, representing a decrease of 2.1% year on year. The volume of trade in index futures was 311.1 thousand contracts in May 2018, representing a decrease of 25.3% year on year. The volume of trade in currency futures increased by 173.5% to 215.5 thousand contracts compared to 78.8 thousand in May 2017.

The value of non-Treasury bond issues listed on Catalyst was PLN 80.7 billion at the end of May 2018 compared to PLN 63.2 billion at the end of May 2017.3 The value of trade in non-Treasury bonds on the Electronic Order Book on Catalyst decreased by 7.2% year on year to PLN 148.7 million in May 2018.

The total value of trade in bonds on TBSP was PLN 22.9 billion in May 2018, representing a decrease of 49.7% year on year.

The total volume of spot and forward transactions in electricity was 18.2 TWh in May 2018, representing an increase of 108% year on year. The volume of forward transactions in electricity increased by 142% year on year to 16.1 TWh in May 2018.

The total volume of transactions in natural gas was 10.2 TWh in May 2018, representing an increase of 46.9% year on year. The volume of trade on the spot market decreased by 43.5% to 1 TWh. The volume of trade on the forward market increased by 79.5% and stood at 9.1 TWh.

The volume of spot transactions in property rights to certificates of origin excluding the rights to certificates of energy efficiency ('white certificates')4 was 10.7 TWh in May 2018, representing an increase of 33.5% year on year. The volume of trade in property rights to certificates of origin of energy efficiency ('white certificates') decreased by 41.9% year on year to 22.8 ktoe5 in May 2018.

The capitalisation of 426 domestic companies listed on the Main Market was PLN 587.28 billion (EUR 135.96 billion) at the end of May 2018. The total capitalisation of 476 domestic and foreign companies listed on the GPW Main Market was PLN 1,230.37 billion (EUR 284.84 billion) at the end of May 2018.

The company Ten Square Games was newly listed on the Main Market in May 2018 with an IPO worth PLN 94 million.

The company CreativeForge Games was newly listed on NewConnect in May 2018 with an IPO worth PLN 9.40 million.

GPW held 20 trading sessions in May 2018, 1 less than in May 2017.
