Mike Medeiros is becoming chief operating officer at Aeroméxico, where he will report directly to Aeroméxico CEO Andrés Conesa. Delta is close to finalizing with regulators its purchase of 49% of Aeroméxico, a deal announced in late 2015. The two airlines announced a joint cooperation agreement In December 2016, paving the way for a major trans-border alliance. Medeiros is moving to Mexico City in March and will become a full-time Aeroméxico employee. Medeiros joined Delta in 1988 and has held several key operational, commercial and corporate support roles across the airline, including operational roles at New York's JFK International Airport. In Seattle since 2013, Medeiros has overseen Delta's efforts to dramatically increase its number of flights to and from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
