Hang Seng Launches Financial Mission Campaign "Be a Game Changer and 'Carry' Yourself!"

Gamification Missions in Conjunction with Money Master Savings Plan Tool

Encourage Young Customers to Master Personal Finances

Hang Seng Bank's ('Hang Seng') latest value-added innovation from Preferred Banking uses gamification to encourage customers, especially the younger generation, to take their first step towards independent financial management. Available through Hang Seng Digital Banking, "Be a Game Changer and 'Carry' Yourself!" financial mission campaign invites customers to complete various 'financial missions' that are designed to teach them more about everyday banking services and investment options. Together with the new savings plan tool Money Master, younger generation customers can more easily achieve their specific financial goals.

Hang Seng conducted a series of focus group interviews and surveys with over 200 young people# to learn more about their financial habits and needs. Most respondents considered wealth and income accumulation as their primary financial goal. Some respondents who were new to investing stated that they are hesitant to start financial investments due to limited financial knowledge. They are keen to obtain precise product information and appropriate financial advice. 70% of survey respondents claimed that attractive welcome or financial reward programmes are the main factors that would encourage them to use personal financial tools to achieve their wealth management goals. About 90% of respondents expressed a desire for personal financial tools that offer them the ability to compare and analyse their personal spending habits against those of their peers.

Rannie Lee, Head of Wealth and Personal Banking at Hang Seng, said: "Young people aged from 18 to 30 in Hong Kong account for about 13% of the total population*, and their demand for financial services continues to rise. As of June this year, the number of young customers opening Hang Seng Preferred Banking accounts increased by 20% compared with the same period last year. They are also more inclined to use Digital Banking. We have embedded future banking concepts into 'Be a Game Changer and 'Carry' Yourself!', which is designed to cater to the needs and priorities of the young segment. We used a gamification structure to help break down perceptions about the 'complexity' of gaining investment and financial management knowledge and skills. We aim to help young people become more confident in managing their finances and building wealth."

"Be a Game Changer and 'Carry' Yourself! - Calling All Gen-Smart Players in Town" - Complete Daily Missions to Gain Lucky Draw Entries!

Starting from today (5 September 2023), Hang Seng will give away a pair of round-trip flight tickets to Tokyo every day for 3 months until 15 December 2023. Customers simply need to complete the daily financial missions (see Appendix I) through Hang Seng Digital Banking to be automatically entered into the lucky draw, with up to 10 chances to win every day.

Customers can also draw Gen-Smart Game Cards by scanning the "Be a Game Changer and 'Carry' Yourself! - Calling All Gen-Smart Players in Town" campaign QR codes that are located around Hong Kong, such as all Hang Seng MTR Offices, promotional posters and outdoor advertisements. By clicking 'Draw Game Cards Now', customers will draw Game Cards via H A R O WhatsApp. By completing the designated Game Card missions, customers can earn extra lucky draw entries. The 14 Game Cards include financial missions such as opening a Preferred Banking account; registering for Personal e-Banking and e-Statement services; setting up a savings plan; using mobile deposit, withdrawal and/or online foreign currency exchange services; making an online credit card application, an online investment and/or an online insurance application for designated protection plans; activating push notifications on the Hang Seng Mobile App; and using 'FPS' for money transfers, etc.

New Money Master Savings Plan Tool to Help Young People Master Personal Finances

To help younger customers start their financial planning journey at an early stage, Hang Seng has newly launched Money Master on the Hang Seng Mobile App. This savings plan tool automatically tracks customers' Hong Kong dollar accounts and credit card transaction records, providing a more convenient way to track daily expenses and spending patterns. This helps customers develop good savings habits and achieve their financial goals. In addition, Money Master is connected to Hang Seng's intelligent assistant, H A R O WhatsApp, enabling it to provide personalised savings tips and reminders on financial goals progress. With Money Master, customers can view their personal financial plans anytime, anywhere, and experience the benefits of future banking services.
