Hanger : NCIS: New Orleans episode to feature role played by Hanger Clinic patient Katy Sullivan

New Orleans, La., December 15th, 2014 - Tune in to "NCIS: New Orleans" on CBS tomorrow, Tuesday, December 16th, to see Hanger Clinic patient and Amputee Empowerment Partners National Coordinator Katy Sullivan. Sullivan, who was born without both her legs above-the-knee, will play a veteran named Taylor. About Katy Sullivan: Katy Sullivan, now 34-years-old, was born a bilateral amputee, missing both legs through her femur bones, but that has never kept her from excelling at everything she has tried. As a young girl, Katy was on the local swim team and also loved gymnastics. As an adult, she moved to Los Angeles to further pursue her acting career. When she first arrived, her then LA-based Hanger Clinic prosthetist William Yule suggested she try running. Having always been an athletic and active person, Katy jumped at the chance. She had a difficult time adjusting to the running prostheses at first, but she was determined. Six months later at a running clinic, everything seemed to come together and Katy has been setting running records ever since, competing against women who have the advantage of having one leg. Most recently, Katy competed in the 2012 games held in London where she achieved a personal best in the 100 meter dash with a time of 17.33, and beat unilateral above-knee amputee competitors.

Outside of athletics, Katy earned a BFA in acting from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the first physically disabled actor to graduate from the college. Katy headed to the prestigious Goodman Theatre in Chicago, to pursue her acting career after graduation and relocated to LA in 2004. Katy has appeared on a number of television shows including My Name is Earl, I'm with Stupid, Last Man Standing, and Nip/Tuck. She was also the star of her own reality show pilot called Some Assembly Required.
