HONOLULU, Oct. 6, 2021 - Hawaiian Electric crews and contractors will be replacing a transformer at the Kapahulu Substation in Waikiki on Friday, Oct. 8, as part of routine maintenance.

The work will require a contraflow lane on Leahi Avenue and the closure of the west end portion of Hollinger Street from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Parking will be restricted in the vicinity and pedestrians will be rerouted when a crane is in use.

"No parking" signs will be posted in advance of the work. Safety cones will mark the contraflow lane, and flagmen and special duty police will provide onsite traffic control. Motorists should drive with caution when passing the work zone, plan ahead for delays or seek alternate routes.
