Hindustan Zinc Limited announced audited standalone earnings and production results for the fourth quarter and year ended March 31, 2017. For the quarter, the company's total income was INR 72,372.8 million compared with INR 41,976.0 million a year ago. Profit before exceptional items and tax was INR 36,828.8 million compared with INR 18,477.1 million a year ago. For the year, the company's total income was INR 212,717.1 million compared with INR 182,256.3 million a year ago. Profit before exceptional items and tax was INR 101,992.4 million compared with INR 86,535.1 million a year ago. Profit before tax was INR 101,992.4 million compared with INR 86,234.0 million a year ago. Net profit for the period was INR 83,155.9 million compared with INR 81,753.6 million a year ago. Basic and diluted earnings per share were INR 19.68 against INR 19.35 a year ago. EBITDA was INR 97,340 million compared with INR 66,670 million a year ago.
For the quarter, the company reported mined metal production of 312kt, up 66% year on year and 13% quarter on quarter. Silver production was 139 mt, up 14% year on year and 18% quarter and quarter.
For the year, the company reported mined metal production of 907kt against 889kt a year ago. Silver production was 453 mt, up 7% from previous year.
The company expects capex on the on-going mine expansion projects, fumer and smelter de-bottlenecking will be around $350 to $360 million in the fiscal year 2018.
In the fiscal year 2018, mined metal production is expected to be higher from fiscal year 2017. Refined zinc-lead metal production will be around 950kt, which will be evenly spread through the year. Silver production will be over 500 MT.
