Hume Cement Industries Berhad announced appointment of Datuk Ir Ahmad 'Asri Bin Abdul Hamid as independent and non-executive director. Date of change is 1 September 2023. Age: 61.

Ahmad 'Asri has been dedicated to the construction industry for almost 37 years through his services in the public sector. He has served Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia ("CIDB") for the past 21 years, moving up from Senior Manager to General Manager and then to Senior General Manager before assumed the position of Chief Executive on 1 March 2016, a position he held until his retirement on 31 August 2023. Prior to joining CIDB, he was a mechanical engineer at Public Works Department for 13 years.

He was later appointed as President of the Professional Services Development Corporation for 3 years, responsible for enhancing the development of the professional services sector to face the challenges of liberalization. YBhg Datuk Ir. Ahmad 'Asri has been a leader in driving the transformation of the Malaysian construction industry, particularly through the use of technology, including the Industrialised Building System ("IBS") and Building Information Modelling ("BIM").

He championed the implementation of the Construction Industry Transformation Program for the period from 2016 to 2020 and established the IBS Centre and MyBIM Centre to promote the adoption of technology in the construction industry. He has led the implementation of Construction 4.0, a five-year plan to transform the Malaysian construction industry by empowering smart construction for the future society. He has involved in driving various initiatives under the National Construction Policy 2030.

YBhg Datuk Ir. Ahmad 'Asri has been a member of a number of national-level committees and councils. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his contributions to the Malaysian construction industry.

At the ASEAN level, he was awarded the "Construction Professional of the Year" in the RICS Awards 2020 Southeast Asia and Honorary Fellow of ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations.
