TORONTO (AP) _ Hut 8 Mining Corp. (HUT) on Thursday reported a third-quarter loss of $18.2 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had a loss of 9 cents. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 11 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 1 cent per share.

The crypto currency mining company posted revenue of $24.3 million in the period.
