Idemitsu Kosan Co. and Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. announced that Idemitsu Chief Executive Officer Shunichi Kito will become CEO of the new company that will emerge from their business integration next April. From the Idemitsu founding family, Masakazu Idemitsu, 50, will join the new company as a part-time board member. Idemitsu Chairman Takashi Tsukioka, 67, will take the post of chairman at the new company, while Showa Shell President Tsuyoshi Kameoka, 61, will become vice chairman. The two companies will finalize the appointments after their respective extraordinary shareholders meetings on Dec. 18. The registered name of the integrated company will be Idemitsu Kosan Co., but the company's trade name will be Idemitsu Showa Shell. Idemitsu and Showa Shell reached a merger agreement in 2015. But due to the opposition from the Idemitsu founding family, the two companies could not conclude their business integration contract until July 2018.
