IDM Appoints New Chief Operating Officer
IDM International Limited (ASX: IDM) is pleased to announce
the appointment of Mr Wayne Knott as Chief
Operating Officer ("COO") based in the USA.
Mr Knott will commence with IDM on June 1st 2012
and will report directly to the IDM Board. He will lead the
Company through the final ramp-up of its mineral processing
plant in Coos Bay Oregon and the ongoing production and
marketing of SpheriChromeTM.
SpherichromeTM is a unique inert mineral product
and is gaining significant worldwide market acceptance as a
zircon substitute.
IDM Chairman and acting Chief Executive Officer Mr Barry
Bolitho said, "We welcome Wayne to IDM at an exciting and
important phase of the Company's development. Wayne brings to
IDM proven executive management experience in the mineral
sands industry and we look forward to his leadership as we
finalize commissioning of the Coos Bay, Oregon mine and
mineral processing facility and commercialization of
SpheriChromeTM and the other minerals produced.
Beyond this we look forward to Wayne's contribution to the
establishment of IDM as a predominant mining company based in
North America."
Mr Knott has had extensive experience in senior management
roles and his experience in the mineral sands industry
includes Unimin Australia as General Manager Operations;
Consolidated Rutile as Operations Manager; with Kenmare
Resources as General Manger responsible for the establishment
of a greenfield operation ; and as Operations Manager with
Iluka in their USA operations.
Current COO, Dan Smith will move to a newly created role of
Vice President Business Development with special emphasis on
North American minerals opportunities. Mr Bolitho said "Dan
and his team have done a fine job in developing the Coos Bay
operation from greenfield to production through a difficult
period including the worst of the GFC. Dan's wide experience
in the North American minerals sector will be important in
the advancement of business development opportunities."
