IMC has completed harvesting of corn

On the 14th of December IMC completed harvesting of corn.

The gross yield of corn amounted to 7.3 t/ha and exceeded Ukraine's average corn yield by 28% (according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the average corn yield in Ukraine as of December 14, 2015 amounted to 5.68 t/ha on the 99% of the harvested area).

The gross corn yield in IMC decreased by 10% in 2015 compared to the previous year due to dry weather during summer months.

IMC's corn was harvested from 74.8 thousand hectares and the gross harvest constituted about 548 thousand tonnes in bunker weight.

Approximately 30% of corn harvest is already contracted.

'We observe significant climate change in recent years. The lack of rainfall and dry summer weather affects the crop yields and encourages us to implement changes in soil cultivation. Starting from the following year we plan to apply the technology of deep soil ripping on the 30% of our land bank to ensure moisture accumulation in the soil during autumn/winter period and create favorable soil conditions for the development of plant root system. Appropriate machinery has already been purchased. In three years we will be able to complete deep soil ripping on all the land bank of IMC. Such technological changes will allow to limit the influence of weather risks on our operational results', - said Alex Lissitsa, CEO of IMC.
