Schattdorf benefits from the sun

Implenia's environmental strategy includes generating renewable electricity on the roofs of its own sites wherever possible. A few weeks ago, our Schattdorf workshop put a large solar power system into operation. With a capacity of 57 kilowatts, the system now generates around 57,000 kilowatt hours of renewable energy every year.

A roof has to withstand a lot - especially in the mountains, where wind and weather have a considerable impact on the building structure. It's no wonder that the roof of our Schattdorf site in the canton of Uri was ready for a thorough renovation at the beginning of 2020 after 40 years of persistent efforts against the elements. The workshop, including a mechanical workshop and metalworking shop, therefore replaced the tired weather protection last spring. In the process, the asbestos panels, which had previously been common but implied a health hazard, were removed. Implenia also installed a large photovoltaic system with a surface area of 300 square meters. Half of the energy generated from this is consumed by the site and its 22 employees, the rest is fed into the grid.
