Johnson Controls International appointed a new president for its largest business unit: Julie Brandt, who most recently worked for Otis Elevator Co. Brandt is a new corporate vice president and president of building solutions North America, which posted revenue of nearly $9.4 billion in Johnson Controls' latest fiscal year. Brandt will be based at Johnson Controls' executive offices in Glendale.

Brandt succeeds Nate Manning, who earlier this year was named vice president and chief operations officer for Johnson Controls' global field operations business across all regions: Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Manning joined Johnson Controls in January 2019 as the North America vice president and general manager of HVAC and Controls. In Brandt's new position, she is responsible for strategy and execution of the sales, design, installation and service for the North American direct-channel business.

The business has 3 million customers in North America in a variety of industries including schools, office buildings, arenas and hospitals. At Otis Elevator, Brandt most recently held the role of executive vice president and general manager, U.S. western region. Brandt earned an MBA and a bachelor's degree in international business and marketing from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business.

She also attained leadership certifications from Harvard Business School.
