Brill : and EIFL Sign Three Year Journals and Open Access Agreement

Brill, the international scholarly publisher, has signed a three-year journal agreement with EIFL (Electronic Information for Libraries), a not-for-profit organization working with libraries worldwide to enable access to digital information for people in developing and transition countries. The agreement includes discounted access to Brill's Journal Collections in the Humanities & Social Sciences, Law and Biology, as well as Open Access opportunities for authors in Brill's hybrid or full Open Access journals.

"Brill fully supports the commitment of EIFL to expand access to knowledge in developing and transition economy countries. It is essential that researchers from these countries are recognized not just as users but also as producers of research," says Jasmin Lange, Chief Publishing Officer. "This agreement could not be more timely, during Open Access Week 2020: Taking Action to Build Structural Equity and Inclusion."

Discounted access to Brill's journal collection is available for libraries in the following 23 EIFL partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Botswana, Congo, Ethiopia, Georgia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Namibia, Nepal, Palestine, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Zambia, Zimbabwe

The agreement also offers authors from EIFL partner countries the option to publish their articles in Open Access for free or at discounted Article Processing Charges (APCs) in one of Brill's 314 hybrid or fully Open Access journals. Eligible countries are: Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lesotho, Malawi, Moldova, Myanmar, Nepal, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Estonia, Serbia, Slovenia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Fiji, Georgia, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Maldives, North Macedonia, Palestine, Thailand, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Botswana, Namibia.
