KT&G Sangsang Madang is hosting an exhibition that showcases cultural heritage reproduction works and original creations by local young artists, inspired by genre paintings from the Joseon Dynasty. This event takes place at the 'Sangsang Madang Nonsan Arting Lounge' until April 24.

The exhibition features the works of artist Lee Seul-bi, a 'reproduction artisan' active in the Chungcheong region. A reproduction artisan is a specialist dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and reproduction of various types of calligraphy and paintings at cultural heritage sites.

Titled 'Intersection of Time,' the exhibition juxtaposes traditional and contemporary works to explore humanity's dualistic attitudes towards nature. It includes six genre paintings replicating scenes from 'Danwon Pungsokdo Cheop' by Danwon Kim Hong-do, a prominent Joseon Dynasty painter, such as 'Dancing Child' and 'Wrestling,' alongside eight original creations using reproduction techniques, making up a total of 14 pieces.

Additionally, the exhibition offers various events for visitors to enjoy, including a 'Reproduction Artisan Experience Zone' where participants can draw themselves using modern materials within the context of traditional artwork images.

Kim Jung-yoon, the head of the Exhibition Division at KT&G's Cultural Contributions Department, stated, "This exhibition was organized to support the active artistic endeavors of local young artists and to enhance cultural experiences for local residents. We hope that visitors will gain an understanding of reproduction artisans and appreciate the value of cultural heritage through the exhibited works."

KT&G Sangsang Madang is a multi-cultural arts space that supports the creative activities of emerging artists and provides the public with a broad range of cultural experiences. Since opening 'Sangsang Madang Hongdae' in 2007, it has expanded to operate in five locations, including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the expansion of the cultural and arts base and regional cultural development. Sangsang Madang welcomes about 3 million visitors annually, with over 3,000 cultural and arts programs operated each year.
